All Good Things Come to an End

Boo hoo! Today is the last day of our holiday in the South of France. My other half and I have spent an idyllic 9 days in the beautiful area of Flayosc in Provence staying with some very good friends. On 2nd October it was our 26th Wedding Anniversary and we took off in Olive, a 26 year old Deux Chevaux (2CV), which just so happens was built in 1982 (the year we got spliced). We visited Bargemon (where the Beckhams have a holiday home), and had a picnic by the Lac de St Cassien which was very romantic. Olive behaved impeccably throughout the trip, taking the hairpin bends and steep gradients in her stride. On the straights we even reached a respectable 60mph - not bad for an old girl of 26! We came home via Chateaudouble, a medieval village perched precariously on top of a gorge, from where you get the most amazing views.
When we arrived back home our friends opened a bottle of bubbly. We all drank to our good health - it was the perfect ending to a perfect day.

Since then, we have visited so many lovely villages and seen some spectacular scenery...
When people think of the South of France, they think of the French Riviera - Cannes, Nice, Monaco, but although the coast is without a doubt very special, the Var is one of the most beautiful areas of France I have been to.

It was my friend, bare-faced gardener, who told me about blogging and spurred me on to set up my own blog...I had my initiation yesterday and wrote my first blog!
